Indications:

Oxiflam 20mg is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of various painful inflammatory and degenerative disorders of the musculoskeletal system, including:

• Rheumatoid arthritis
• Osteoarthritis
• Arthrosis
• Ankylosing spondylitis
• Extra-articular disorders (e.g., tendinitis, bursitis, periarthritis of the shoulders or hips)
• Strains, sprains
• Acute gout

Pharmacology:

Oxiflam 20 mg is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic properties. It inhibits platelet aggregation and biosynthesis of prostaglandins, making it effective in treating inflammatory and degenerative musculoskeletal disorders.

Dosage & Administration:

• For all indications (except primary dysmenorrhea, post-operative pain, and acute gout), the usual recommended dose is 20 mg once daily.
• In rheumatoid arthritis, take Oxiflam 20 mg at night to relieve morning stiffness.
• For primary dysmenorrhea, the recommended dose is 20 to 40 mg once daily.
• For post-operative pain, take 40 mg once daily for up to five days.
• For acute gout, take 40 mg once daily for two days, followed by 20 mg once daily for a further five days.

Administration of Oxiflam 20 mg: Take the tablets with a glass of water, preferably during or immediately after a meal.

Interaction

• Avoid concurrent use with salicylates or other NSAIDs.
• Caution when administered with methotrexate.
• Monitor lithium levels closely if used concurrently.
• Exercise caution with concomitant use of K-sparing diuretics.
• No clinically significant interaction with antacids, cimetidine, warfarin, phenprocoumon, or low molecular weight heparin.

Contraindications

Oxiflam 20 mg must not be administered to patients:

• Hypersensitive to the drug
• Where salicylates or other NSAIDs induce symptoms of asthma, rhinitis, or urticaria
• Suffering or having suffered from diseases of the upper gastrointestinal tract

Pregnancy & Lactation

Avoid during the third trimester. A minimal amount passes into breast milk.

• Monitor renal function, especially in high-risk patients.
• Oxiflam 20 mg may affect hemostasis; observe patients with coagulation disorders.
• Discontinue if severe skin reactions occur.
• Ophthalmic evaluation is recommended for patients with visual disturbances.
